Pat Bamford Joins the Blades Despite Initiating Abusive Songs Targeting Coach Wilder

The striker has signed with the Championship side just half a year following starting insulting taunts targeting their manager, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, without a club after departing from Leeds, has signed a deal joining the Championship club in difficulty until January. His lengthy spell at Elland Road concluded amicably this past summer.

Among the player's final notable acts while at Leeds included starting offensive songs about Chris Wilder during the club’s success festivities this spring. Currently, the former England player is set to play under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to pull his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Past History Between the Striker and the Manager

Both men had history before Leeds won promotion back to the top flight last season and United lost the promotion decider by Sunderland. The manager called Bamford as “a muppet” back when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured direct promotion while Leeds United fell short in the playoffs.

Making Amends and Moving Forward

All appears has been forgiven and forgotten with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost in attack while Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his career.

The Wilder chant gained traction in April. An apologetic Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned Wilder the next day.

Chris Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat yesterday and I’ve no issue whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow professional! However I valued and admired him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel as well and we had a half-hour chat with him and he's a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we would dish it out and accept it and that is an integral part of the game at every level, even on Sunday league. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Latest Playing Challenges

The forward made 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Boro striker has struggled with injury in recent years.
