No Script, Anthony Joshua Will Rapidly Knock Jake Paul Out - Hearn Asserts
I have no substantial defense for Anthony Joshua versus Paul. It's wild the fact it's happening and I think the naysayers are spot on.
However, we just couldn't refuse it. No fighter who is sensible would have said no. Anyone who says they'd refuse are completely lying through their teeth.
We took a fight that we think will be extremely easy, will provide AJ a massive presence in the United States and among the highest paydays.
The Plan For This Bout
Anthony Joshua was set to have a tune-up bout this November in Saudi Arabia - an eight-round contest against a guy who was ranked around 100th in the heavyweight rankings.
It was an opportunity to get his hands wrapped by his new coaching staff, make the ringwalk and go through the motions. Now, we're doing that same tune-up but for about 50 times more money.
We have a clear game plan planned - to stop Jake Paul out asap. After that, we return to regular business resuming in 2026.
AJ will fight against a world-class fighter in February and - if all goes well - he will then face Fury.
So there is logic to this madness and accepting this bout does not affect Joshua's legacy. However a loss against Paul or the fight even going the distance would.
It would be a complete disaster and awfully humiliating.
This Bout Is Definitely Not Scripted
A great many individuals have asked me questioning whether it's fixed. First of all, we'd be investigated by authorities if it was. It would be illegal. This is a professional fight and a sanctioned bout where fans are wagering.
And do you think I would ever permit AJ to have a pre-written plan involving Jake? A plan in which we might lose or even make him look bad? No way.
We are certainly not providing this guy an edge or an opportunity to say "I told you I was better than AJ" or "I took rounds from him". That would be devastating for AJ and we're not going to risk that.
Expectations for a Early Finish
There are also those who say if Anthony Joshua does not knock him out in the first round then it's a disgrace.
He is expected to walk through this opponent but, blimey, allow him two to three stanzas for safety. Since how Jake approaches it will reflect on the pace of destruction.
Should he come forward, it will end rapidly. But if he fights on the back foot and attempting to clinch and jab and move, then he might last a few rounds.
We will not see AJ charge across the squared circle immediately and begin swinging wildly.
Just like he did against Francis Ngannou, he will step into the ring, size him up and then unleash with his power shots.
Jake Paul Has the Ability to Whack Somewhat
I have heard figures like Roy Jones Jr and Atlas stating you cannot dismiss Jake out in this fight. Am I going crazy ? Is there something they're seeing that I am missing?
Let us be one thing clear - Jake Paul is a pro fighter. I believe he's a decent 200-pound fighter - top 60 or 70 in the world.
This isn't an individual that has not put on boxing gloves before. He can whack with some power. He spars Lawrence Okolie and top-ten big men.
Forgetting the victory against Mike Tyson, who was then well past his prime, Jake defeated Chavez Jr - who might have been a faded fighter but was hardly a complete mug.
He prepared for that bout and had been a titleholder who went the distance against Canelo Alvarez and came close to stopping Sergio Martinez late in the fight.
Therefore I give credit to Jake for his hard work and showing respect for the sport , and he has done a great deal for women's boxing with his promotion company.
Yet in spite of his delusion, zeal, commitment and enhanced ability, he ought to be getting iced by Anthony Joshua.
The Moment AJ Lands, It Is Finished
Paul and his camp are hoping for a lot of things. Hoping AJ underestimates them, hoping AJ is shot, hoping AJ's inactivity will cost him, hoping AJ is low in confidence, banking on AJ's chin isn't what it once was.
However, to their misfortune, AJ is super focused. He's had a camp and he's training as if he's fighting Oleksandr Usyk or in a Dubois second fight.
I anticipate Anthony Joshua to win within two rounds with a brutal KO.
He could hit Jake to the body and it could break his rib cage and he would be unable to get up.
If he hits him clean, he will knock him to sleep. Alternatively could jump in.
It is unknown exactly how it will unfold but with the way AJ throws punches - with the speed and power - as soon as a punch lands on the chin, the contest will end.
Subsequently we go back to AJ's primary objectives he aims to accomplish in the time he has left in boxing - to face Tyson Fury and to be crowned a three-time heavyweight champion of the world.
